7PM

The Vanguard, NSW

Archie, Shane, Dave and Amos create a magical atmosphere. The songs borne from a land we are only just beginning to understand, paint a picture of a history that all Australian’s should know.

Shane and Dave’s beautiful harmonies exemplified the time and effort that has gone into this collective to bring about another Archie Roach album. What was showcased for us at this concert was a polished, well thought out and expertly delivered performance by all the men onstage. The social comment that interspersed the music was not lost on the crowd and was in perfect symbiosis with the message that Archie Roach delivered in his songs.

A New Future Possibility For All Australians

Hidden Republic turns our gaze forward to the future.

The irresistible premise of Hidden Republic is that a vast reservoir of hope for all revealed in the music of Indigenous Australia.

Hidden Republic discovers great power of musical possibilities with contemporary Indigenous musicians working alongside The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, the peak western whitefella orchestra in the nation, side by side with trusted musical mavericks from Melbourne’s vibrant jazz scene.

Referencing Oodgeroo’s poem “Song of Hope” on its fortieth anniversary is a compelling way to locate this production historically.

Hidden Republic offers a small part of an extraordinary songbook of hope for another order of sharing hearing and knowing.
